p.h.l.u.m.p. Phlump, phlump, phlump.

Moody moody moody. Introspective and jumpy. Dreamy and scared.

Hurrruuumph.

Uni is difficult, Chem is hard, dropped Physics, good god what is that anyway?

Saw this on a girls blog:

And then I got all "remembery" and thinking about stuff.

I watched "Amelie" first when I was about 12 or so. I watched it, then went and sat in the garden for a little while. I came back inside and told my mother that I wanted to be Amelie. She frowned and said that it probably wasn't some I should aspire towards.

But I was swept up in this technicolor world, maybe where I could be this special, pretty, fragile little creature. This girl whose father wrapped her in cotton wool, where her imagination ran free and spilled rough and tumble into her real life, where quiet little gestures and the odd match making could pass without more than a slight murmur from her. Where people were not perfect, but they were there... and there was she.

Apart from it all, and living in a cloud of whimsy.

Maybe there I could just float away.

Instead I am me. I walk hard upon the ground. And my creme brulee never cracks properly.
Im cracking up I think. Maybe its a good thing.

I don't want to be a sad person. I dont want to be 'a depression'. Depression is middle aged ladies with bad haircuts, and 15 year olds sitting around in the car park wearing all black and comparing scars.
I just want to feel special. And actually feel it. To be able to actually accept it, believe it. That would be really something.

Anyway, in other news, I gave myself a haircut. Not too bad, I was sick of my hair. Yeeew.

HtoPtotheArrytotheOtter

I don't think there will ever be another phenomenon quite like Harry Potter in our lifetime. Never before has there been a book, and consequently a movie series, that quite speaks to us like the stories within the pages of the Harry Potter books. And I don't want there to be.

You either love Harry Potter or you don't. For those who do, the Wizarding world is as rich as our own, so tantalizingly close, yet so very very far away. To quote Dumbledore "Of course it's all in your head, but why should that mean it's not real?"

Truly, we finished our adventures back in 2007, as we devoured the last book and were left with that competing feeling of utter sadness and uplifting joy that the ending of such a series brought us. The publicity machine has spun into gear once again to promote the last movie.

The books brought a different experience to the films; this electric excitement as the books were released, where you knew hundreds of people were poring over the same words as you, picking up the same spelling mistakes ("fug" anyone?), laughing at the same jokes and hearts leaping at the same twists and turns that wove their way through the pages.

* * *
Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Fred and George, Lupin and Tonks, Mad Eye Moody, Molly and Arthur, Bill and Fleur; we grew up with these people, most of us were the same age as the younger characters when the books first came out.
Through Harry, we leave the muggle world as he does, and experience the strange, enchanting and dangerous Wizarding world as he does, so that when the journey is over for Harry, we feel that we have grown with him.
When you think about it, these characters have been with us for years longer than half the friends you have right now, who are of course super important to us as well :p Boy or Girl, we all 'get' Harry.

As he experiences the dizzying highs and devastating lows, so do we. In the books, comes a lot of people's first real experience of losing some one that you truly love and care about. The real humanity of the books, is what makes them such a captivating peek into this world that is surely just an enchanted brick wall away.

Harry Potter Tumblrs.

There are a mother truck load of Harry Potter tumblrs, which im not complaining about. They're good for sating the cravings and staving off the post-potter depression.

All was well.
